NABGC Visit to Old First Reformed Church

Choir Members Performing at the Old Reformed Church

Members of NABGC boarded a bus for the choir's third visit to Old Reformed Church in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 22.  Rev. Roca-Caine and NABGC Director James Backmon, who are good friends, worked together years ago in East Harlem at the Church of the Living Hope.

Like most young people, NABGC members enjoy traveling to new places and making new friends.  The choir spent the afternoon exploring the historic areas of Philadelphia.  Some members chose to have lunch at the famous Reading Terminal Market. In the early evening, after checking into the hotel, the choir took a walk to Old First for dinner where choir members and parents got a chance to chat with Pastor Roca-Caine.

Sunday morning, the choir returned to Old First for breakfast provided by church members. Holly Phares, church organist, accompanied the choir on the piano throughout the service.  During the children’s section of the service NABGC members Daniella and Neveah talked to the children about their experience in the choir.  The choir was well received by members of the congregation.

After lunch, NABGC members headed to Franklin Park where they enjoyed the sites and a ride on the historic carousel.

Thank you to the members of the Old First Reformed Church once again for giving the NABGC members a nice visit to the city of brotherly love.
