Remembering a True Patron of the Arts

Kersen De Jong, 1950-2016

Kersen De Jong was known for organizing concerts for young people in the United States as well as Europe. The NABGC was one of the many organizations that benefited from his generosity.  In addition to being a regular donor, Kersen chaired the  NABGC board of directors and helped to strengthen the infrastructure of the choir.

When Kersen died in 2016, he remembered the choir in his will. The proceeds from the bequest were used to start the NABGC endowment.

Over the years, Kersen invited the NABGC to perform for several events. In the fall of 2008, the NABGC was invited to participate in a Central Park occasion recognizing the donation of 50,000 tulips from Amsterdam to NYC.  In addition to helping plant tulips, the choir performed the song “Tulips from Amsterdam. ”
